Ashok Leyland receives order worth Rs 521 crore from Ministry of Heavy Industries

India’s second largest commercial vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland has received orders worth $82 million (approx. Rs 521 crore) from Senegal, Minister of State in the Ministry of Heavy Industries and GM Siddeshwara informed in Lok Sabha on December 15, 2015.

The order comprises supply of 475 buses, genuine spares, assistance in development of workshops, training and consultancy on fleet management and structuring of vehicle tracking and monitoring system.

Siddeshwara further added that Government, whenever needed, interacts with Indian automotive industry to ensure that automobile export to African nations is given adequate support by organising fairs/exhibitions/seminars in India and Africa to boost exports in this sector to Africa.
