GPS tracking for City buses and waste management vehicles in Ujjain

Bus Shelters having online display of  information about the buses will be coming up in Ujjan at more than 80 identified points in the city. Ujjan is included in the list of smart cities.Other decisions taken in recent meeting of the smart city board include GPS tracking of solid waste management vehicles of Ujain Municipal corporation, high tech energy efficient automatic LED lamps to replace old street lights.

Collector Sanket Bhondve presided the meeting, while UMC commissioner Dr Vijay Kumar J, CEO of smart city project Avadhesh Sharma, UDA CEO Abhishek Dubey, corporator Rajshree Joshi and others were present in the meeting. Old street lights will be replaced by high-tech energy efficient automatic LED lamps.
Vehicle tracking system(VTS), will be installed in UMC’s solid waste management vehicles, traffic vehicles, fire brigades, e-rickshaw and auto-rickshaws. A mobile application will enable users to receive information about these vehicles.  Also, a panic button will be added in the app for women safety.  A public bike sharing project,  a la shared mobility concept, will be launched, clubbed with a heritage walk.

Among the seven cities of MP selected for Smart City project, Ujjain along with Gwalior had been included in the third list released by the Centre in September last year.
