Self-drive car rental company Voler raises first round of funding

Voler Car Pvt. Ltd, a self-drive car rental company, has raised an undisclosed amount in funding led by a family office of Kanodias. Former UTV and Unilazer executive Amit Banka has also invested in the company. The company is planning to use the money for expansion of fleet across multiple cities such as Hyderabad, Mumbai and Pune.

The company currently operates its self-drive rentals in New Delhi and Bangalore and was founded by Vikas Parasrampuria in 2010. Its current fleet includes a range of cars from mini-hatchback to SUVs to luxury sedans. It is planning to increase the number of cars in its fleet to 1,000 in 12 months.

Vikas-ParasrampuriaIn a recent interview with Telematics Wire, Vikas Parasrampuria, CEO & Founder, Voler Car has expressed his views about the demands of self-drive rental cars in India.

According to him:

We have plans to launch our services in 20+ cities, our prime targets being the cities with high density of cars. We aim at 300% growth year on year for us and are pleased to announce funding round and partner with some of the leading business names in the market. 

Having said all that, Voler Car is now ready to compete with the other major players in the market such as Zoomcar, Ola, etc. Voler said that the user base in Delhi is more than 15000 consumers with 50 percent traffic coming from its new-age android application and iOS applications.
