Vehicle Tracking Systems to be installed in Varanasi public transport

City buses in Varanasi being operated under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, are going to be installed with GPS tracking system.

As directed by the divisional commissioner Nitin Ramesh Gokarn, all 130 city buses are going to be equipped with vehicle tracking systems within two weeks. After the installation of GPS system a mobile app will be developed so that passengers can locate buses on their respective routes.

A control room will also be established at roadways premises for the same.Taking a serious note on non-operation of city buses on all the approved routes, the commissioner asked the officials to ensure city bus operation on prescribed routes. Presently these buses are operating on only four out of 19 routes. The officials were also directed to ensure city bus operation from Lal Bahadur Shastri International airport.
